59-63 Trafalgar Ave & 1A - 1B VALLEY ROAD LINDFIELD
At 59-63 Trafalgar Avenue and 1A–1B Valley Road, Lindfield, our connection to Country has been woven into every stage of the project. From the outset, we’ve approached this site with respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Guringai people of the Eora Nation, and a commitment to honouring their deep and ongoing relationship with this place.
We’ve worked closely with local knowledge holders to better understand the cultural significance of the land and its surrounding environment. Insights gained through this process have informed our design, landscaping, and material choices — allowing us to respond to Country in a way that is thoughtful and grounded.
Native planting, gentle site integration, and an emphasis on natural textures are all part of how we’ve reflected the character of this land. Wherever possible, we’ve preserved natural features and enhanced connections to green space, creating spaces that invite reflection, respect, and connection.
Through these actions, we aim not only to acknowledge Country but to contribute to a culture of care and awareness that supports truth-telling, healing, and ongoing relationship with the land and its people.

2-4 Larkin Street
JMP Aboriginal Consultancy led a comprehensive Connecting to Country process for 2-4 Larkin Street, encompassing Aboriginal engagement, Elders’ involvement, and detailed reporting to ensure that Aboriginal perspectives and cultural values were central to the project.
Our approach included developing a Connecting to Country brief to guide the project’s engagement strategy, followed by Elders’ engagement to gather valuable cultural insights directly from traditional knowledge holders. This was complemented by a Walk on Country experience, offering participants an immersive opportunity to connect with the land and understand its cultural significance.A Connecting to Country Final Report was produced to document the findings and ensure the project remained aligned with cultural protocols and local Aboriginal values.
Additionally, we provided attendance at the SDRP (Site Development Review Panel) to present and advocate for Aboriginal considerations in the development process.Through these efforts, the project at 2-4 Larkin Street was shaped by a deep respect for the cultural significance of the area, ensuring that Aboriginal voices were heard and integrated into the planning and design process.
